What is collected
Nothing that identifies you. CostToHeat has no accounts, no sign-in, no newsletter and no contact form that stores submissions. The calculator runs entirely in your browser: the state you pick, the fuel you burn, your annual usage and any price you override are used to compute the table on screen and are never transmitted to this site or to anyone else.
The site sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage or session storage. Closing the tab discards everything you typed.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served as static files by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information necessary to deliver a page — IP address, browser user agent, the URL requested and the time of the request — and retains it for security and abuse prevention. That processing is Cloudflare's, governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy. This site does not receive, store or analyse those logs.
Analytics
No analytics script runs on this site. There is no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom and no pixel from any social network.
Advertising
There is currently no advertising on CostToHeat and no ad code is present in these pages. If advertising is added in future, this policy will be updated before any ad script goes live, naming the ad provider and describing what it collects. Advertising networks generally do set cookies and use device identifiers to select and measure adverts; when that applies here, it will say so on this page and appropriate consent controls will be provided where the law requires them.
Links to other sites
Pages here link to the U.S. Energy Information Administration and other external sources so that figures can be verified. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Children
This site is intended for homeowners and renters making heating decisions. It is not directed at children and knowingly collects no information from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Because no personal data is collected or stored, there is no personal data to access, correct, export or delete. If you contact the site by email, that email is held in an ordinary mailbox and can be deleted on request.
